Severe Weather Safety at Home

The United States experiences more tornadoes, severe thunderstorms and flash flooding than any part of the world ? and most of it occurs right here in the Midwest. We can't stop storms from occurring, but there is something we can all do to stay safe. The "Weather Safety Class" will outline the main hazards that impact us in Illinois, including temperature extremes, flooding, lightning, severe wind storms, winter storms and tornadoes. There will be discussion of what can be done to prepare for these storms, as well as safety rules for minimizing your risk of injury. Techniques for increasing the structural integrity of your house and other structures from wind storms will also be explained.
